George Clinton will be honored at the 9th annual BMI Urban Music Awards, as an Icon during a ceremony to be held Sept. 10 in New York. The annual BMI Urban Music Awards is a gathering that honors songwriters and publishers of the most performed urban songs on U.S. radio and television for the past 12 months.Clinton will join an elite group that includes The Jacksons, James Brown, Isaac Hayes, Little Richard, Chuck Berry, The Bee Gees, Willie Nelson and Carlos Santana, to name a few. In addition to receiving the Icon award, Clinton will be saluted with an all-star musical tribute during the ceremony.
